The Delhi-based trio Raqs Media Collective are Jeebesh Bagchi, Monica Narula and Shuddhabrata Sengupta. To describe them as artists doesn’t quite cut it. They make videos, high-tech objects, installations and online projects exploring a world reshaped by globalisation, from the blazing lights of India's rapaciously evolving cities to the shabby gloom of a Tyneside dock. Since they founded Sarai, their Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, in Delhi in 2000, they’ve reached far beyond art’s usual bounds, developing media projects with local communities, conducting urban research, editing a journal and curating international exhibitions.” - The Guardian

Digital Mixtape
Ah, the mixtape. One of the most sentimental gifts of the 20th century, with the added benefit of telling someone who you were through your musical choices before the days of Facebook.  MakerBot has come up with a delightful way of reviving the mixtape: a 3D printed MP3 player kit that looks like an old-fashioned cassette. You can either download and print the chassis yourself with the 3D Replicator and assemble the device, or order the whole gadget in assembled form. The Makerbot Mixtape holds 2GB of music, can be used as a USB stick, and plays directly through a headphone jack.

Happy Olympic tweeters to light up London Eye - Telegraph

[The team has] been commissioned to develop an intuitive algorithm to track the sentiment of British tweeters about the Olympics by EDF Energy, the official electricity supplier to London 2012, in order to create the ‘world’s first social media driven light show’, called ‘Energy of the Nation’ on the London Eye (which EDF sponsor).

If the overall sentiment is negative – the London Eye will glow purple. If it’s positive it will shine yellow and if the Twitter reaction to the Games is neutral, the wheel will emit green rays.
